Showstopper American Dance Championships
Organization

Showstopper American Dance Championships is a dance competition that hosts competitions in over 54 cities in the United States. The company was founded by Debbie Roberts.

WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1978, Showstopper is America‘s first, longest running and most prestigious dance competition. Showstopper set the standards for competitive dance in America with the first and longest aired dance competition television show, broadcasted on national television for 20 years.
OUR COMPETITIONS
As a full production company, today Showstopper hosts over 50 events a year throughout the United States and internationally. Each competition is equipped with the industry‘s best stages, background screens, lighting, and cameras. In 2018 our stages saw over 50,000 dancers from all across the world.
OUR CONVENTIONS
Each year Showstopper hosts 6 dance conventions at top vacation destinations throughout the United States. Dancers learn from the world‘s top dancers and choreographers, including winners of So You Think You Can Dance, Broadway superstars, and celebrity choreographers.
SHOWSTOPPER MAGAZINE
Showstopper produces America‘s #1 Teen Dance Magazine. Showstopper Magazine can be found at every Showstopper event, in Barnes and Nobles locations nationwide. Each magazine features America‘s most talked about dancers and teen celebrities. Check out Showstopper Magazine Online! Looking ahead, we will continue celebrating every transformation of popular dance and seamlessly evolve along the way. We will forever be dedicated to what is unmistakably Showstopper: an unconditional love for movement in music, and an unbridled joy in elevating the performance of dance.
WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU AT OUR NEXT EVENT!
MEET THE FOUNDER
DEBBIE ROBERTS
Before 1978, dancers didn’t have a stage to perform on, the opportunity to learn from peers, or a competitive outlet like most sports. Debbie Roberts recognized this missing piece in the dance community and that is how America’s first and longest-running dance competition, Showstopper, was born. Debbie taught dance for over 26 years and owned and operated her own dance studio for 20 years. She is now the owner and National Director of Showstopper, alongside her husband, Dave Roberts. Dancer, teacher, business owner, author, and mother, Debbie has made dance her life’s career.
Debbie got the idea to host the nation’s first dance competition from watching her son, Adam, play competitive sports for years. Seeing the excitement he got for a big game inspired her to create the same for dancers. With the name suggestion from her dancing, 8-year-old daughter Angel, Debbie took her savings and booked four competitions for Showstopper’s first year. She wrote letters and knocked on the doors of local dance studios. Despite many doors slammed in her face, Debbie did not give up. Eventually, she recruited about 400 people to attend her first show. By the fourth show of that year, people were asking her how they could participate in Showstopper’s competitions. In no time, local televisions and newspapers were filled with pictures of children leaping across the Showstopper stage.
Debbie’s impact on the dance community continued. In 1984, Debbie graced the cover of Dance Teacher Magazine. In 1986, she topped Glamour Magazine’s list of Outstanding Young Working Women. In 1992, Debbie published her first of three dance-related books. Her first book, The Super Studio: The Guide to a Successful Dance Studio, earned major credit at many colleges throughout the United States.

“More than any other trade show in the water well industry, the JUBILEE is a people oriented event. Its founders started it to inform, educate, and entertain contractors and their families. In subsequent years hundreds have worked hard for the JUBILEE and thousands more have participated in it. Every one of these people should be recognized for contributing to the JUBILEE’S success.”

(Kenneth R. Swanson, History of the South Atlantic Well Drillers JUBILEE)

The JUBILEE is dedicated to the following purposes:
To deal with trade and promotion of the business of water well drilling, the installation of groundwater systems, and related ground water activities, particularly in the South Atlantic area of the United States; and, to produce a trade show for those interested in the water well drilling and ground water related industries;

To provide educational programs designed to improve the professionalism, technical expertise and image of the industry;

To cooperate with manufacturers, suppliers, drillers and installers of related ground water systems and their associates in the industry, including particularly state ground water and water well associations located in the South Atlantic region, in all lawful matters of common interest;

To act as a trade association for the industry in the South Atlantic region, in cooperation with state water well associations, and to perform services which can better be performed as a group than separately; and,

To perform any other lawful acts to help those in the ground water industries to serve the public and promote expansion of the industry.

South Atlantic Jubilee Since 1955
“It will be a Jubilee.” These words were spoken by Russell O. Heater of Raleigh, NC, as he announced his concept for the event now known throughout the well drilling industry as the South Atlantic Well Drillers JUBILEE. Under Heater’s leadership, the first JUBILEE was held in 1955 at Carolina Beach, NC. For years, Heater’s vision of a drilling industry event, emphasizing both business and family relationships, has prevailed. The JUBILEE was, and still is, the industry’s premier conference and trade show and a “family affair.”

“More than any other trade show in the water well industry, the JUBILEE is a people oriented event. Its founders started it to inform, educate, and entertain contractors and their families. In subsequent years hundreds have worked hard for the JUBILEE and thousands more have participated in it. Every one of these people should be recognized for contributing to the JUBILEE’S success.” (Kenneth R. Swanson, History of the South Atlantic Well Drillers JUBILEE)

ABOUT US
In The Beginning…

The Craftsmen’s Classic organization was founded 35 years ago by the Gilmore family of Greensboro, NC. Clyde Gilmore, a jewelry maker, wanted to create a “family” of artists and craftsmen, nationwide, that could stage indoor festivals showcasing their totally original works and interact one-on-one with the public. The first such event, the “granddaddy” and prototype of all the others on today’s schedule, was the Christmas Classic, Thanksgiving Weekend, at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Now…

There are now 10 Craftsmen’s Classics held annually and throughout the year in Columbia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Richmond, Roanoke and Chantilly, Virginia and Greensboro, North Carolina. Produced by Gilmore Enterprises, Inc., headquartered in the city of Greensboro, the organization is managed by the late founder’s son, Executive Director Clyde Gilmore III, one of the crafts and fine arts industry’s most acclaimed and award-winning promoters. The Classic events have been named more often than those of any other promoter to the “200 Best” list by the prestigious Sunshine Artist Magazine and have been named often as “Top 20 Events” by the Southeast Tourism Society. Gilmore can also calculate success by the longevity of the Classics — most of which are in their 15th to 25th year or more — and by the tens of thousands of visitors that eagerly anticipate them and attend, year after year.

The hallmark of the shows, from the beginning, is creative excellence and absolute originality in every specialty. Clyde and his wife, Tami, design each Classic with a fine balance of crafts and fine art and the specialties within those areas. There is careful thought given to a balance of traditional and contemporary works as well. More than 6,000 of the country’s finest artisans are members; depending on the size of the facility, there are between 300 and 550 participants in a Craftsmen’s Classic show.

Established in Washington, D.C., in 1956 by a group of air traffic controllers, the Air Traffic Control Association has been from the outset dedicated to progress in the science of air traffic control and the preservation of a safe flight environment. It provides a forum in which those concerned can address the myriad issues inherent to the development of viable air traffic control systems and aviation infrastructures, and the ever increasing demands on the global navigable airspace environment. Those in the aviation community — the providers of air traffic control, system architects, manufacturers, suppliers, system operators and users — join together in ATCA to share their collective experience, knowledge, and efforts in pursuit of common goals.

ATCA is unique in representing a broad spectrum of civil-military cooperation typical of global flying activities. ATCA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition provides North America’s largest and most diverse venue for aviation-related technology, attracting thousands of civilian and military members and representatives from around the world. ATCA also holds technical symposia, cyber security summits, and various high-level collaborative meetings and briefings domestically and throughout Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America. ATCA’s Civil Military Air Traffic Management Summit, known as CMAC™, attracts civil and military aviation leaders from around the world.

The ATCA publications, The Journal of Air Traffic Control, Conference Technical “Proceedings,” and the ATCA Bulletin, are prominent sources for the latest news and achievements in the field.

ATCA is a non-profit, non-government, professional organization. Membership is open to all who share a common interest in promoting and encouraging the advancement of aviation and air traffic control. The governing body is composed of representatives from all segments of the aviation community.
The Symposium is an ideal forum to showcase air traffic control to the US Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army. The Symposium helps reinforce the Joints Service professional excellence in the ATC community. It allows senior military and civilian professionals to enlighten, inspire, and educate junior and senior military air traffic controllers on ATC’s latest technological advances, operational enhancements, and policy changes. The Symposium provides the perfect opportunity to get beyond the classroom and traditional training methods.
